Missions

Les assistant•es de recherche seront associé•es à un des projets de recherche portés par la chaire. Ces projets reposent soit sur l’étude des contextes sociaux de mise en oeuvre de l’intelligence articielle (par exemple dans le monde de la justice, de la santé, du planning urbain ou des médias), soit sur l’extraction, la structuration et l’analyse de données tirées du web et plus particulièrement des réseaux sociaux ou de larges bases de données, à des fins de compréhension du fonctionnement des plateformes algorithmiques dans la société.

Les missions des assistant•es de recherche consistent principalement dans l’aide à la collecte et à l’analyse de données (données tirées du web, entretiens, observations, bibliographie). En fonction des compétences des candidat•es, des missions dans l’analyse de données pourront aussi être confiées (analyse longitudinale de données, text mining, analyse de réseau et visualisation cartographique) ou des tâches d’animation de la chaire elle-même.

Profil

Etudiant•es de niveau Master en sciences sociales, MIASHS ou informatique ayant un intérêt pour la recherche et les questions algorithmiques (fonctionnement des plateformes du web, réseaux sociaux numériques, etc.) La maîtrise d’outils d’analyse des données quantitatives (R ou Python de préférence) est un avantage mais n’est pas obligatoire.

Durée et gratification

La durée des postes sera décidée au cas par cas, comme la quotité de travail, afin de permettre une bonne intégration dans les projets de la chaire sans empiéter sur les temps de formation des étudiant•es. Ces postes sont rémunérés sous la forme de gratifications de stage ou de vacations.

Missions

The trainees will be associated with one of the research projects carried out by the Chair. These projects focus either on studying the social contexts and conditions of AI deployment in different social settings where AI interacts with professional knowledge and organisational constraints (medical treatment in hospitals, judicial decision making in courts, urban planning and newsroom activity) or extracting, structuring and analysing data from the web, social networks or large databases for a better understanding of algorithmic platforms in society.

The missions of the research assistants consist mainly in helping researchers to collect and process data (data extracted from the web and/or other databases, interviews, observations, bibliography). Depending on the skills of the candidates, data analysis might also be part of the job’s missions (longitudinal analysis of data, text mining, network analysis and cartographic visualization) as well as animation tasks of the chair itself.

Profile

Master’s student in social sciences, MIASHS or computer science with an interest in research and algorithmic questions (operation of web platforms, digital social networks, etc.) Skills in quantitative data analysis (preferably in R or Python) is an advantage but is not mandatory.

Duration and gratification

The duration of the position as well as its time schedule will be decided on a case-by-case basis in order to allow a good integration in the chair’s projects without encroaching on the course schedule of the students. These positions are paid as internship conventions or vacations contracts.
